Men in the US will soon be able to buy over-the-counter Viagra and Cialis online, the online healthcare giant announced Friday.
The announcement comes just weeks after the FDA approved over-the-counter versions of Viagra and Cialis for use in men with erectile dysfunction.
Viagra was the first FDA-approved drug for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in men aged 18 and over.
Cialis, the brand name for tadalafil, is a popular erectile dysfunction treatment that works by increasing blood flow to the penis.
It is available in the US as, and is expected to be available in the second half of this year.
“The FDA’s decision to approve Viagra in the US was a significant victory for many men suffering from erectile dysfunction,” said Jim Sage, Pfizer’s chief executive officer.
“Today’s announcement reflects the collective agreement among our customers and reflects the continued dedication to improving access to affordable and clinically proven ED treatments.”
Viagra and Cialis are both available without a prescription in the US, and the company said the availability of both drugs will be a key driver for its future strategy.
